Thank you for your blog! I just stumbled upon it...think I read one of your articles at Heart of th Matter...and got here from there.
I too, am a former homeschool student, now homeschooling my own two munchkins. Your articles are very encouraging and I am anxious to check out more of your blog.

I get all sorts of comments like that - a librarian at the allen parish library told me that she would love to homeschool, but her (get this) daughter doesn't listen to her! So you are going to send your ill-behaved child off to someone else? Seems the solution would be - discipline your child and then homeschool.. That is crazy to me..

I agree - there are legit reasons to not homeschool - like when I was a single parent - I could not afford to stay home and homeschool my daughter.. I had no help other than my mom who also worked 8-5.. or a parent that is mentally challenged.. otherwise the only other choice would be that they dont really want to .. and perhaps some people aren't willing to admit that.. I will admit that I was into that "i need my 'me' time" thing before I homeschooled..what I found though is that I really enjoyed spending more time with my kids, I PREFER they get such fundamental learning from me, and I am creative enough to find some "me" time and I dont need as much of that apart from my kids... they play while I sew or blog.. on occassion I need to go out to decompress - but it's much less than I would've thought (perhaps a day a month gets me refreshed)..

I liken all this to what people say to me about having twins - people ask me all the time - how in the world do you do it?? Im like well, they are here so what choice do I have? Same with my daughter too -she's here now so if I want to raise her right and give her a GOOD education - what choice do I have but find a way to give her the best I can.. and homeschooling is the best you can get.. I dont knock other people that just dont want to or genuinely can't - but it's been awesome for us and I suspect that if other people stopped saying why they can't and try to see if they CAN, they would suprise themselves.
